Common Questions
About Custom Jewelry Manufacturing

What is the difference between gold plated, vermeil and 925 silver jewelry?

Gold plated jewelry describes a gold-color or gold-layer finish over a base material such as brass or 925 silver. Vermeil normally means a gold layer over 925 sterling silver, but the exact definition should be confirmed for the buyer's market. 925 silver means the base metal is sterling silver; plating and anti-oxidation finish still need to be specified.

What does 2.5-5 um plating thickness mean and how is it verified?

2.5-5 um refers to a requested plating-thickness range in micrometers. Verification should be agreed before production, including the test method, sampling plan, measured points and whether a report is requested for the SKU or batch.

Do water-and-wear claims apply to brass and 925 silver jewelry?

Water-and-wear performance should not be treated as universal. It depends on base material, coating system, component design, contact chemicals and test method. For brass and 925 silver lines, TEYING confirms coating options and sample testing for the intended use case. See the gold plated jewelry manufacturing page.

How is MOQ calculated?

MOQ is calculated by style, material, finish, mold requirement, stone or pearl selection, color count, logo work, packaging and total order plan. Catalog styles and custom developments can have different starting quantities, so buyers should request a project quote with style count and quantity per style. How does sample approval control bulk consistency?

The approved sample should define the reference for material, dimensions, weight, plating color, stone setting, logo position, packaging and inspection criteria. Bulk production can then be checked against that approved sample and any signed specification notes.

What do REACH, nickel, lead and cadmium documents cover?

These documents normally relate to restricted-substance requirements for a specific material, component, SKU or batch. Buyers should request the document type, test scope, tested parts, report date and market requirement before treating a document as applicable to a finished product.

How are dimensions and weight confirmed?

Dimensions and weight should be confirmed through drawings, sample measurement and the approved sample record. For bulk orders, acceptable measurement method and tolerance should be agreed by project before production.

How are packaging, delivery and quality claims handled?

Packaging is quoted by card, pouch, box, barcode, insert and carton specification. Delivery timing depends on approved sample status, materials, order schedule, packaging and shipping route. Quality claims should be tied to the agreed inspection criteria, sample record and available documents rather than assumed as universal. Details: private label jewelry packaging.

Can TEYING manufacture my own design?

Yes. TEYING accepts sketches, reference images, reference links or physical samples. The founder-led design team can review feasibility, proportion, materials, plating and market positioning before sample development. Visit: OEM jewelry manufacturing.

What is the difference between OEM and ODM?

OEM means TEYING produces jewelry to the buyer's design and specifications. ODM means the buyer selects from existing development references and customizes materials, stones, finish and packaging to create a branded product line.

Do you offer private label packaging?

Yes. TEYING can quote custom logo cards, jewelry pouches, gift boxes, display cards, barcode labels, brand inserts and gift-ready packaging sets by specification. Packaging should be quoted together with the jewelry order when the buyer needs brand-ready output.

How do I get the clearest quotation?

Provide product category, reference image or link, material preference, plating color, stone or pearl size, quantity range, target price per piece, packaging requirements, document requests and destination country. Complete RFQ details reduce back-and-forth before sample quotation.

Can TEYING help with trend selection and collection planning?

Yes. The founder, who graduated from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Environmental Art Design, provides trend guidance on bestseller direction, material combinations, product sets, color trends and launch-ready merchandising. Read more: about the TEYING factory.

What shipping methods are available?

Shipping method and timing are quoted by destination, order value, carton size, courier or freight route, and buyer requirements. TEYING can work with common express, air, sea or buyer-designated forwarder options when available for the order.

How are after-sales issues handled?

After-sales handling should follow the approved sample, production specification, inspection criteria and defect evidence. The response path can include replacement, credit or other agreed handling depending on order terms and the verified issue.
