What is the difference between gold filled and gold plated?
Plating deposits a thin gold layer electrically; gold filled pressure-bonds a 14k layer to a brass core at five percent or more gold by weight. The bond is mechanical, which is why the color lasts far longer in wear.
How long does gold filled hold up in daily wear?
Years with normal care — sweat and water will not strip the layer the way they can with plating. We are upfront that it is not solid gold; the color simply keeps longer per dollar.
